Catching up

It has been a couple of weeks since I last posted here; I had a lovely week of walking in North Devon followed by an inspiring 3 day workshop, making a seamless dress with Cristina Pacciani. Since returning, I have been furiously trying to finish the hat tutorials for the online workshop I will be hosting in August, in-between attending job interviews and completing a mountain of paperwork needed for my new day job.

I’m getting a bit stir-crazy, utterly desperate to make some felt but trying so hard to be good and remain focused on finishing the tutorials! It’s funny how not being allowed to make anything is making my creative juices flow faster, my sketchbook is now overflowing with ideas that I haven’t had time to bring to fruition. Once the tutorials are finished I foresee a massive spurt of felt-making before I start my new job on the 25th… ๐Ÿ™‚

I will post more about the online workshop in a few days, once the finer details have been ironed out but in the meantime here is some eye candy from the last couple of weeks ๐Ÿ™‚

Teri, I know what you mean about wanting to be creating something instead of writing a class! It’s hard work getting a class together. But I’m sure it will be fab and hopefully you’ll have lots of eager students!

The week very well spent! I do understand you being busy with a tutorial because I do the same. It’s so time consuming, I didn’t expect really…

We had such a wonderful time in North Devon, I was only half joking when I suggested my OH that we both give up the day jobs and move down there… I was the same, naively thought I could complete each tutorial in 2-3 days, not even close!!

Wonderful pics and a great opportunity to take a class with Christina. The dress is beautiful, of course, my colors. Congratulations on the job! I’m looking forward to hearing more about the class! Good luck with everything!

Thanks Marilyn. The class was interesting, I have made several seamless garments before but never taken a class for them, it was reassuring that my methods matched Cristina’s 90% of the time.

I’ve never taken an online class before but am very interested in yours. How does it work? Do you send us a video each week to watch and then we create our hats or is there an prespecified time we all get online and have the class together?

Hi Willi, I have replied to you via email in more detail but to summarise the concertina hat course is primarily communicated via PDFs with lots of photos and some explanatory text next to each. The videos are very short and just to illustrate specific techniques that aren’t easily explained via photos. There are no specific times when you need to be online, the Q&A section is forum based so you can access it whenever it suits you best. I will do my best to log on at least 3 or 4 times per day and answer questions. The main benefit of online courses it that you can work at your own pace and at times that suit you.
